Event Guidelines - Please read!
Our trips are mainly planned for educational purposes, other events may be planned to meet social needs. Encourage your children to not only make friends on our trips, but to learn something specific from each trip.
Please share with your children ahead of time what this field trip is about, what they will be doing and what is expected of them.
Conduct. To maintain a good reputation for all homeschoolers, it is essential to practice the following conduct:
Respect – other children, parents, the tour guide, and any other visitors at the facility.
Discipline - Children must obey the rules of the places we visit, pay attention to tour guides and stay with the group
Use of Appropriate Voice.
Acceptance of others as they are.
Each parent is responsible for his or her own children. Parents must keep an eye on them and make sure they are behaving well.
Rowdy, rude or aggressive behavior (e.g.; pushing, hitting, taunting, etc.) is not acceptable. Rude behavior can ruin the trip for everyone. PLEASE…no running.
If a child damages or destroys property, parents of the child must reimburse the owner.
Supervision:
Any parent present may bring a behavior that needs correcting to the responsible adult's attention.
If necessary, the child may be taken apart from the group and spoken to quietly. If this is not sufficient, the child may need to go home. Raising your voice to a child (except in an emergency), shaming, criticizing or publicly spanking a child is not acceptable.
If you have more than one child attending a field trip, make arrangements with another parent to watch your children in case you have to leave the group to tend to one of your other children or need to remove a child from the group. (A reciprocal arrangement with another parent who may need your help with their children works best.)
Timing:
Allow extra traveling time so you can arrive on time. Plan to be at any field trip a minimum of 10 minutes early
Everyone needs to check in, and pay, if applicable, before a tour.
If you are not on time, you might not be allowed to join the group on that tour.
R.S.V.P.:
R.S.V.P. is required for all trips. If you do not R.S.V.P. to say you are going by the deadline date given (by the person coordinating any particular trip) then you will not be allowed to attend. We need to know in advance who is and isn’t going. This is simply out of respect to the coordinator and the facility we are going to.
Trips with Fees:
Some trips are not free and have to be paid up front.
You must pay our treasurer when you R.S.V.P. for trips.
No one is confirmed on the trip until payment has been received.
No money, no participation!
Fees are non-negotiable. You will only have to pay a fee when one is required by the facility we are visiting.
Cancellations:
If you cancel a trip with us, you will not automatically be refunded your payment. Often times we get into a facility with a group rate which requires a minimum number of students. If this is the case, we cannot reimburse you; otherwise we will do our best to refund your full amount.
If a trip itself is canceled, you will be refunded the full amount by our treasurer.
