30th (Tuesday) -
FIELD TRIP

WHERE:  Alpaca Hill Farm
8 Willow Street, Seymour

WHAT:  We will learn about the alpacas and how
their wool is used for different things.

TIME:  10:00 a.m.

COST:  $4. per child, adults free
Cost includes a 1 oz. roving of yarn

There are ducks as well, so bring bread along if you wish to feed them!
We will picnic right in the Alpaca paddock.

October 2008

 

29th (Wednesday) - FIELD TRIP

WHERE:  Beardsley Zoo
1875 Noble Avenue, Bridgeport

WHAT:  We will meet together and tour the zoo
as a group.  If enough sign up, we will have a class
as well called "Animal Encounter/Animal Tool".

Animal Encounters are short (20 – 30 minute) on-grounds educational
presentations aimed at enhancing your students' field trip to the
Zoo. Your students will meet one or two live animals, see bio-facts
and learn "insider" tips to help them enjoy their zoo visit even more.

Animal Tools: An eagle's sharp talons and beak work like a knife and
fork. Otters have built-in goggles and flippers. Look through our
animal toolbox to learn more.

TIME:
  10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

COST:  $7. each
If taking a class, the cost will be an additional $5. per child
as long as there are enough kids to take the class.  (The
class cost is $60. so it may be cheaper if enough sign up.)

Bring your own lunch and eat outside at the pavilion and
enjoy a carousel ride (inside) if you desire.

November 2008

 

10th - Field Trip

WHERE:  American Museum of Natural History



WHAT: 
 
Hayden Planetarium Space Show at 11:30 a.m. (about ½ hour long),
Fossil Hall (huge dinosaur skeletons), Ocean Life (life-size fake whale hanging
from ceiling).  Depending on time, there’s a special exhibit of lizards and
snakes.  All listed activities are included in the price.


Lunch:  12:30 pm - You may bring your own, or purchase there at the food court.
We will have our own cafeteria area.

There is also a GREAT gift shop at the store, so keep that
in mind when bringing any money with you to spend.

17th - Field Trip

WHERE:  Stew Leonards



WHAT: 
 Tour around the store.  First stop is to the bakery
department, watch milk bring processed.  Then off to the
meat department, fish department and followed by produce.
Everyone will get an ice cream cone. 

You can also go see and feed their animals.
 
WHEN:   Monday, November 17th at 10:00 a.m.

WHAT: 
 Tour around the museum and enjoy the planetarium show

The museum is not open to the public on Mondays - it's only for
groups like ours and schools.
 
WHEN:   Monday, December 1st at 10:30 a.m.
Planetarium Show at 11:30 a.m.

COST:   The cost is $130.00 for up to 20 kids - additional kids are
$6.50 each. If you have 20 kids going it's $6.50 per kid.
